Malaysian Borneo
This was a spectacular wildlife adventure. I divided my time between Sabah and Sarawak. In Sabah, particularly Danum valley, there is pristine primary rain forest where the diversity of plants and animals is enormous. Highlights were wild orangutans and a herd of Borneo pygmy elephants. The area around Mount Kotakinabalu also provides wonderful opportunities for landscape photography. The sad fact, however, is that there is very little primary rain forest left and much of the country is covered in palm oil plantations. Please do all you can to support protection and oppose any further expansion of these mono-culture plantations.
