My first visit to Cambodia was in 2009 when I spent a brief time in Phnom Pen and then Siem Reap, including Angkor Wat. I also visited Tonle Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. The legacy of the Pol Pot regime continued to haunt me afterwards and I only travelled there again in 2023. I wanted to take more photos of the capital city and the temples. I also wanted to head south to visit Kampot and the Koh Rong islands. Angkor Wat was more beautiful than ever and I have replaced my earlier sunrise image as in 2009 the temple was covered in scaffolding.
